Today we had a discussion about the teacher inquiry assignment. We talked about the reasons why we chose the topic for the teacher inquiry

  1. Hi Kate, I think blogs have great potential to engage whanau. I'm just not sure if it actually works in practice. Like, in the juniors. It hasn't worked for them has it. Are we a little ahead of our time? Do our whanau read blogs? I know I don't (unless it's for study!). But maybe the peer pressure of our kids will encourage parents to check it out!

  2. Hi Kate
Our conversation was a good review of our Literature assignment and helped us cement our ideas for our inquiry. We were reminded that one of the main purposes for the implementation of the National Standards was to enable effective and efficient reporting to parents. Has that occurred? I don't think so.

  3. Hi Kate. I think using Learning Blogs as a way of students being able to share their learning with their whanau is much more informative and engaging. I think parents and whanau will love seeing photos and videos of their children learning and hearing the great learning discussions they are having. I also think it will give them a much clearer picture and understanding of what their child is currently learning about.
